UMW traveled to Emmitsburg MD to face 2nd place Mount St Mary’s in an effort to keep their perfect record intact. UMW emerged victorious and improved to 6-0 behind two try’s each from wing Tamilore Awonusi and fullback Harry Masters.

UMW did not score until the 18th minute despite controlling possession. Mount St Mary’s did well in the lineouts and had moments of inspired play but UMW’s tackling was steady.

UMW also got an excellent try by Michael Sacks when he alertly jumped on a loose ball in the try zone caused by UMW’s stifling defense.

Mount St Mary’s never stopped fighting and scored a late try in the corner that was unconverted.

UMW pack looked very good and seniors Phillip Harrison, Lewis Grant, Wyatt Priddy, Andrew LaMarca and Tucker Chewning did a lot of dirty work.

Aidan Gallagher converted 4/5 try’s and also helped take advantage of any MSM penalties with deep kicks for field position.

Final was UMW 33, MSM 5.

In the second game, the Futures Cup, flyhalf Peter Smith was on fire picking multiple passes, running full field try’s and setting up his teammates again and again. The try of the day was a pick by Smith who then popped the ball to first year player GianCarlo Pavan who raced the length of the field to touch down under the posts.

Final in the Futures game was UMW 54, MSM 7.
